Dinner And A Movie
Bittersweet Stitches Digital Photograph; Digitally Manipulated Inspired by the movie Call Me By Your Name (2017) |
My intent with this photograph is to visually communicate the tension between sensual vulnerability and healing through symbolism, natural elements, and light. The stitched peach halves, placed like eyes on a neutral plate, evoke a wounded face, raw yet tender, suggesting emotional openness or pain. I carefully arranged the fruits with thread to symbolize the delicate process of mending, both physically and emotionally.
Surrounding the plate are dried lavender sprigs and handwritten notes repeating the word “love,” which serve as gentle reminders of care, memory, and the passage of time. The netted background and shadows cast by nearby greenery add a layer of entrapment and introspection, contrasting the softness of the flowers and handwritten words. These choices aim to create a still life that is both unsettling and comforting, echoing the dualities we often experience in love, loss, and personal repair.
